another camera

We got a second hand Canon 40d off Ebay today. No, nothing's happened to my baby. The new toy is for Ryan because all this time that I have been learning how to use my camera and taking pictures, he has been there with me. I'm an early riser so every Saturday at 5am, I would wake the poor bugger up and we would walk into the city or the park, the beach or the markets to take pictures. He would stand around patiently while I snapped away and I feel soooo bad!!! He's been working crazy hours lately and Saturdays would be his only day of rest because he's even going in on Sundays now and there he is, dragging himself out of bed at 5am for me! I know that if it was me, I would just scold him for waking me at such an ungodly hour and go back to sleep!

So last week, I suggested that maybe we get him a camera too. He doesn't have to take it as seriously as me but I think it'll be more interesting if we get to do it together. I'll teach him what I know and we can figure things out together. Though, he is way smarter than me so he'll probably work it out quicker than me. And I can't act like I-know-it-all with photography anymore and get away with it. Lolz... I can't wait!!! It's going to be soooo exciting. He's acting like he's not all that bothered about it but I'm sure he's excited too. Can't wait!!:)

I love reading these things on people's blog but can never think of what to write about myself. Lolz..... so here goes:

1. I'm strange. A lot of my friends have said that about me. Apparently I don't go about things in a logical way or see things like most people do. Or something like that.

2. I don't exercise. And I should. But I walk alot. I walk to and from work everyday and since taking up photography, I'd walk up to 3 hours on the weekends taking pictures. I intend to start some sort of exercise soon though, just to be healthy.

3. That said, I'm quite a health freak. I don't drink coffee, don't smoke, not a big tea drinker either. I just need to take that step further and exercise. :P

4. And also a neat freak.

5. I'm not a Facebook fan. I'm all for finding long lost friends and it being an easier way of keeping in touch but it's also an open portal for airing your dirty laundry in public. You can probably keep some things under wraps but you don't have control over it, especially if someone without realising it post about it on your wall etc.

6.  I'm a reformed impulse shopaholic. I still love shopping but I've learnt to exercise some restraint and wait for the sale. How smart am I?? :P
7. We're on to Season 6 of Spooks. Episode 6 and we're still not sick of it. I've not heard anything about a new season but I really hope there will be one. It's just a top show!! I don't know what we're going to watch after Spooks. There's going to be a big void in my life once we finished the show. Awww.....

8. I can't eat cheese. Which is a shame for Ryan because he absolutely adores cheese.

9. I'd love to take a year off to travel the world. There's soooo many places I want to see. South America is at the top of my list at the moment.

10. Last but not least, none of my friends know about the existence of this blog. Unless they happen to chance upon it unintentionally.

here nor there

I started a new job this week and I'm beat!! It's a totally different role to what I was doing before and there is SO much to learn. I come home each night just knackered from all the information absorption. But other than that, it is great!! It's something I've wanted to do for a long time but the global financial crisis happened and jobs just dried out. Can you believe this is my third job this year?? The culture is awesome, the people are great and I'm learning a lot and.... I survived the first week. ;)

Ryan and I had a relaxing celebratory dinner last night. Yummy awesome tuna steaks and home made chips. This year has been a tumble dryer of a year where life wasn't very stable due to the job situation and plans misplaced. That said, my role is on a contract basis anyway so I might be back where I started again when it ends but I'm content for now.

birthday

It was my birthday two weeks back and I didn't want to do anything but Mr R still managed to surprise me with these gorgeous babycakes after work. Yum yum... I never say no to yummy food. :)

*emera

Back in July, Mo posted about *emera bags and I fell in love. My camera bag is tiny and when I'm out taking pictures, I only have enough space to squeeze my keys, phone and a couple of credit cards into the tiny compartments and then stressed throughout the day that I might have dropped my credit cards. It is really stressful and today I realised that I might need an *emera bag or something similar.

pink and everything else in between

I had a hand at creating some inspiration boards for the wedding using various combination of colours. There was a great deal of failed attempts but I finally came up with something that I can sincerely say I like. Somehow no other colour seem to jump out apart from the pink which we knew we were going to have. So we've decided that we'll just have pink as the main colour and have everything else in between.
