our lil nook

I  posted about my sister moving out of our apartment and how excited we were to have the place to ourselves. And indeed, I did promise some "after" pictures. You know what, the painting and decorating never did happen. All we did was throw out a whole load of stuff and let me tell you, it was a LOT of stuff! We were making 3 trips each weekend to the charity bin to get rid of stuff. After all that cleaning up, it was our busy season at work and I had my CPA exams and the thought of painting the place then was just too much to bear.

We had our very first guests to the apartment since the sister moved out a few weekends back and we scrubbed and cleaned the place from top to bottom like cleaning nazis. The place looked so lovely after all that work!! The hubs made breakfast and I played with their baby. We're still undecided about painting the walls but I have to say our place has never looked so good in months - I'd say the perfect time to share a couple of photos of our lil nook. ;)

There are still bits and pieces that I'm working on like looking for a round coffee table and getting a floor lamp for the living area but we're quite happy to take our time looking for the right furniture now. Can you see my Superman mug there?? You'll see a snippet of its handle better in one of the pictures below. I love it! We got it a few years back up at Movie World in the Gold Coast.

Oooh, here's the remnants of the orchids that Ryan got me for our first anniversary two weeks ago and this is looking towards our entrance and the kitchen.

Our hangout place. One of the couches is a sentimental piece - it was the first couch I bought when I moved out of college. From Ikea, baby, since that was all I could afford back then. When we moved into this apartment a few years later, Ikea had already discontinued the line but lucky us, we found someone who was selling theirs on Ebay. And the blue blankie sitting on the arm of the couch - I've had it since I was a little kid so it's here to stay. I'm such a sentimental fool.

And our coat rack, which at the moment is more of my scarf rack since the winter coats have all been stored away for spring! As you can see, the place looks quite nice when it's all tidied up. I love our apartment now. It doesn't feel as cluttered and it's cosy and nice. Hopefully you enjoyed the mini-tour. :)
