Having a car makes it so easy to get around in Sydney. We never ever use it during the week as we either walk or take public transport to work. But on the weekends, having a car makes it so convenient to get around!
Wollongong is about an hour and a half drive from Sydney. Perfect distance for a day trip! We tried to stay as close to the coast as possible as we drove down so that probably took a little longer than normal. By doing that, we passed by a lot of pretty seaside town and decided to do a pitstop at Austinmer.
It’s a small little town with a couple of cafes on the beach front. The star attraction is definitely its beach and its two ocean pools! So if you want to swim in the ocean but don’t want to have the weather the rough waves, you can do it in the ocean pool! As it was an impromptu stop, we didn’t bring an beach gear with us which was a shame! Definitely next time!
We resumed our journey via the Grand Pacific Drive, a scenic coastal drive on to Wollongong, where we had brunch at Diggies before heading home.
